From your first project to a useful ranking report.
Follow the workflow, understand the table and choose the next action with confidence.
Begin with one project and a small, useful keyword list
Your project is the home for a website or specific page and its search environment. Start with the keywords you most want to understand, confirm that the environment is correct and let the first observations establish a baseline.
Free Forever includes 10 keywords, one project, daily automatic checks and competitor rankings. Manual refreshes and AI require a paid plan. Creating an account or choosing a plan does not automatically activate a paid subscription.
1. Create your account and verify your email
Register with your name, email and password, then follow the verification link sent to your email address. An unverified account can request another verification email. You can also use Continue with Google where offered on the sign-in page.
If you forget your password, use Forgot Password and follow the reset email. Account settings let you review your account details and change your password. Never include a password or API key in a support message.
2. Create the project with the right environment
From Projects, choose New project. Give it a short name of no more than five words and 30 characters. Choose Track entire website or Track a specific page. Website mode finds the best matching page across your domain; specific-page mode counts only the selected URL. Check the target summary before saving. SerpToday checks that the target has public DNS.
Choose the country, language and device. One project has one website or specific page and one fixed environment. Save it to go directly to Add Keywords. For a different country or device, use a separate project rather than mixing its observations with the original.
3. Add keywords and start the first checks
Paste one keyword per line. Each phrase can have up to 10 words and 50 characters, including spaces. Duplicate entries and keywords already present in that project are not added again.
Choose Add & check. The results page opens at the keyword table and shows progress while checks run. Completed results appear as they arrive. Search provider availability and account allowance can affect the time needed to finish.
4. Read the table without guessing
The current range is the first 100 positions. A confirmed absence is shown as >100; a dash in a comparison means no comparable ranked observation is available. Use the graph action for history and the magnifying glass for the saved Google results. Both the keyword and project context matter when interpreting a change.
- Start: the first saved result for the keyword.
- Rank: the latest confirmed Google organic position within the checked range.
- 1 day, 7 days and 30 days: changes compared with the latest saved observation at or before each period.
- Life: the net change from Start to the current rank.
- Ranking URL: the page from your domain that appeared in the result.
5. Use daily checks and manual refreshes intentionally
Active keywords within your plan are scheduled for daily automatic checks, including Free Forever. A check may finish later if the provider is delayed. Paid plans also include a separate daily manual allowance shared across all projects. Select one keyword or a set of keywords to request an additional check.
The usage display shows how much of the allowance has been used. Each selected keyword counts as a manual refresh. Review your active plan and account settings for the current limit rather than assuming it applies independently to each project.
6. Open an AI report when you need a closer review
General AI Analysis requires a paid plan. Free Forever includes Improve Rankings reports for 3 keywords once per account, not monthly; saved reports can be reopened and exported to PDF. Paid AI Analysis and Improve Rankings share the account’s billing-cycle allowance; generating a new report uses one unit. Review the report date and available evidence before using its recommendations.
Read the evidence, key issues and prioritized actions before using suggested text. Re-analyze creates a new report and uses one unit. The monthly AI allowance is shared across projects and renews with the subscription billing cycle, not every day. An upgrade increases the limit while preserving usage already recorded for that cycle.
7. Export, organize and pause work
Use Export Data → CSV on the results table to save data for your own reporting. Favorites brings selected keywords together across projects, with their environment shown for context. Settings lets you hide optional table columns while keeping Rank visible.
Archive an entire project to stop its checks and retain its saved records. Keywords kept in archived projects still count toward stored keyword capacity. Deleting a keyword is permanent; it does not move into an archive. Project deletion also removes its keywords and associated records, so export anything you need before deleting.
